Audi A3 2027: More Screens, Fewer Buttons, New Driver-Assist Systems

Audi has unveiled an update for the A3 family for the 2027 model year. This is not a new generation, but a noticeable revision of the cabin, interface, and electronic assistants. The main change is a new curved two-display panel and the move of some familiar controls into the digital environment. The update is announced for the A3 Sportback, A3 Sedan, A3 allstreet, as well as the S3 and RS 3.
The company revealed the details in the official release on the updated Audi A3 models. The first cars with the new equipment should reach European dealers from mid-September 2026. For other markets, equipment, timing, and prices may differ.

What changed in the Audi A3 cabin
The new dashboard is built around a panoramic display: ahead of the driver is an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit, with a 12.8-inch central MMI screen beside it. The screen panel is curved toward the driver, and the decorative trim on the dashboard is wider and stretches to the passenger door.

Compared with the previous layout, there are fewer separate controls in the center section of the dashboard. At the same time, Audi has kept a physical scroll wheel on the steering wheel in all versions of the updated A3. The 25 W wireless charger now faces the driver, and the center console has a new shape.

This is an important shift in the control logic: some actions will now more often be carried out through MMI rather than separate buttons. Audi does not publish a single list of functions moved from buttons to the screen, so before buying it is worth checking the exact car version in person.
Which features are coming
New equipment | How it works | What to consider |
Panoramic display | Combines an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch central MMI screen. | The interface and app set may depend on the market and trim. |
Adaptive cruise assist plus | Combines adaptive cruise control and active lane guidance at speeds of up to 210 km/h; on motorways it can change lanes after the indicator is switched on. | This is an assistance system, not autonomous driving. |
Online and swarm data | Help the assistant choose speed based on the average flow of traffic and maintain the line when lane markings are not visible. | For adaptive cruise assist, online data are included for three years after delivery of the car; after that, the term can be extended for an extra fee. |
Park assist pro | Lets you start parking or pull out of a space through the myAudi app while the driver is outside the car. | Availability depends on the trim, country, and compatibility of digital services. |
Trained parking | The car can memorize up to five repeated parking maneuvers up to 50 meters long. | The function needs to be taught once on a specific route, for example when driving into a garage. |
Driver assists: which situations are now easier
The main new feature is adaptive cruise assist plus. The system combines distance cruise control and lane guidance. Audi says that on the motorway it can change lanes after the driver activates the turn signal, and it can also brake automatically for a red traffic light.
If the car has not come to a complete stop, it can continue moving once the light turns green. For longitudinal and lateral guidance, Audi is adding online and swarm data for the first time. The manufacturer describes this as help with choosing speed and holding the line where markings are hard to see or missing.
Such functions do not turn the A3 into a self-driving car. Even with the assistant active, the driver must monitor the road, be ready to intervene, and respect the system's limits. Audi separately emphasizes this principle on its driver assistance page.
Parking from a smartphone and route learning
The updated A3 can be fitted with four wide-angle cameras that create a 360-degree 3D image around the car. On the MMI screen, the driver can change the viewing angle, zoom in, and use guide lines when maneuvering.
Park assist plus and pro use the cameras to recognize parking markings. Once activated, the system controls steering, acceleration, braking, and gear changes on its own. In the pro version, a remote mode is added: the driver can get out of the car and start the parking maneuver through myAudi. Audi explains more about digital services and subscription functions on the official Digital Services page.

The trained parking function is designed for repeated situations: a tricky garage entrance, a tight courtyard, or a narrow canopy. After one learning drive, the A3 can repeat the saved maneuver. Up to five such sequences can be stored in the MMI memory.
What stays the same
Audi has not announced a full powertrain overhaul with this update. The European release still lists petrol and diesel versions with 116 and 150 hp, plug-in hybrids with 204 and 272 hp, as well as the S3 and RS 3. That means the focus of the update is the digital cabin architecture, parking functions, and driver assists rather than new engine hardware.
For anyone choosing an A3, S3, or RS 3, the practical takeaway is simple: check not only the engine and equipment, but also how convenient the new interface is. It is worth confirming the contents of the Tech, Tech plus, and Tech pro packages, how myAudi works in your country, how long the connected services last, and whether remote parking is available. Audi publishes basic model information on the official Audi A3 Sportback page.
In short
The A3 family update belongs to the 2027 model year and covers the A3, S3, and RS 3.
A panoramic panel with 11.9-inch and 12.8-inch displays will appear in the cabin.
The assistant can help with lane changes, braking for a red light, and parking, but it does not replace the driver.
Some online functions have a limited term and may require renewal after the first three years.
Audi plans to start selling the updated cars in Europe from mid-September 2026.
