Smart #6 — a revolution for Smart: the German brand moves beyond the compact class

Manufacturer Smart, previously associated exclusively with compact city cars, has made a decisive move into the larger segment — the brand's first-ever sedan, the Smart #6, has been revealed.

Technical specifications

  • Powertrain: NordThor Hybrid 2.0 hybrid from Geely — 1.5-liter turbo engine + electric motor.

  • Total output: 429 hp.

  • Battery: suppliers — CATL or SVOLT; exact capacity not officially disclosed.

  • Electric range: up to 285 km on electric power (CLTC) + combined range up to 1 810 km.

  • Fuel consumption in hybrid mode: about 3.9 l/100 km.

  • Dimensions: 4906 mm (length) × 1922 mm (width) × 1508 mm (height), wheelbase — 2926 mm.

Design and features

  • Silhouette — fastback, with a smooth roofline, flush door handles and stylish shapes, different from the usual compact Smart models.

  • At the front — an LED "panel" of headlights; at the rear — a full-width light bar.

  • A roof-mounted LiDAR may be present — a sign of modern driver assistance systems.

  • Optional wheels: 19″ - 20″

What this means for the brand

A bold move into a new segment

Smart has traditionally been associated with compact city cars. With the new model the brand is taking a big step — into the sedan segment, which demands higher levels of comfort and performance.

It is not yet clear whether the Smart #6 will leave the Chinese market — there are no official details about sales in Europe or other regions.

Battery capacity is unknown, as are real-world consumption and range figures under typical use.

Hybrid as a compromise

The hybrid format is a sensible compromise between an EV and a conventional car. It allows Smart to offer a balance of efficiency, power and driving range.

New goals — new technologies

LiDAR, light panels, fastback design, roomy dimensions — everything indicates that Smart aims not just at a "city EV" but at a full-fledged modern sedan capable of competing with serious players.

Conclusion

The Smart #6 is a sharp but logical elevation of the brand: from compact city cars to a full modern sedan. The hybrid powertrain, contemporary design and large dimensions give it a chance to attract a new audience. Much will depend on how Smart implements the promised technologies — and how close the real specs will be once sales begin.
