2027 Maserati Grecale in the US Drops Four-Cylinder Engines: What Has Changed

The 2027 Maserati Grecale has changed in more than just appearance. In North America, the gasoline lineup is now built entirely around a 3.0-liter V6: the base Grecale, Modena and Trofeo no longer offer the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The electric Folgore remains available alongside them.

This decision applies to North America, not all markets. For example, the official Maserati configurator in Italy still lists 2027 versions with a turbocharged inline-four producing 250, 300 and 330 hp. It also includes the 390-hp Modena V6. So describing this as a complete global move away from four-cylinder engines would be inaccurate.

When the Grecale switched to the V6: the exact timeline

The model years have caused some confusion. The US press reported the removal of the four-cylinder engine in connection with the 2026 Grecale. The 2027 update confirmed that lineup, added a base V6 version and introduced design, interior and electric Folgore updates.

The key official date is June 18, 2026. On that day, the manufacturer introduced the new Grecale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio lineup. The Maserati announcement for the US explicitly states that the 385-hp V6 debuted and outlines the North American Grecale range.

What replaced the 2.0-liter engine

Earlier US-market Grecale models used a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a mild-hybrid system. Depending on the version, it produced 296 or 325 hp. The base Grecale V6 and Grecale Modena V6 now both use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine from the Nettuno family, producing 385 hp—roughly 390 metric hp.

According to Maserati, the new engine produces 32% more torque at 2,000 rpm than the previous 2.0-liter unit. MotorTrend lists 369 lb-ft, or about 500 Nm, available between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. Both versions accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.0 seconds and reach 160 mph, or approximately 257 km/h.

The base Grecale V6 and Modena V6 have the same power output and claimed performance. The difference lies in their equipment and trim, but the full list of standard features for each market should be checked in the local configurator, since Maserati specifications can vary by country.

The 2027 Maserati Grecale lineup in the US

As of 27.07.2026, the official Maserati US website lists four versions. The prices below are suggested MSRP figures before delivery, taxes and registration fees.

The price shown in the configurator may differ from figures in US publications because of delivery charges. For example, on 08.07.2026, Car and Driver quoted $98,995 for the Folgore with delivery, while the official MSRP is $97,000. Compared with the 2026 model price of $121,290 cited by the publication, the electric version is $22,295 cheaper.

How the exterior has changed

The update does not make the Grecale a new generation, but the front end has been substantially revised. The grille and bumper are lower and visually wider, while shaped air channels at the edges direct airflow along the wheel arches. This more horizontal design continues the styling approach Maserati previously used on the MCXtrema, GT2 Stradale and MCPURA.

The Grecale is available with new 20-inch Asteria wheels and 21-inch Crono wheels. Grigio Lamiera Shiny gray has been added to the Fuoriserie palette. The available details may depend on the version and market.

What is new inside

The main changes focus on the controls the driver uses most often. The Grecale now has a redesigned steering wheel with pronounced octagonal geometry; the Trofeo gets an Alcantara finish. The digital clock now features mineral glass and a metal frame that echoes the steering wheel's shape.

The push-button PRND selector has also been redesigned. Its metal keys are backlit and provide capacitive haptic feedback. The interface graphics have been updated. The central MIA screen retains its 12.3-inch diagonal, while available equipment includes a 21-speaker Sonus faber audio system with 1,285 watts of power.

The Trofeo sits lower, while the Folgore becomes more affordable

Grecale Trofeo

The flagship gasoline version retains 523 hp and a 0-to-60-mph time of 3.6 seconds. Skyhook air suspension is standard. In its normal mode, the 2027 model's ground clearance is 10 mm lower than that of the 2026 Grecale Trofeo. In Corsa mode, the body drops by 25 mm, while the maximum increase in the two off-road settings reaches 30 and 45 mm.

Grecale Folgore

The electric Grecale retains 542 hp and receives aerodynamic and energy-management improvements. An active grille shutter, revised airflow beneath the body and more efficient tires are intended to reduce losses. The range figure depends on the test standard and wheel size: on 08.07.2026, Car and Driver reported a maximum estimate of 274 miles for the US version, while Maserati's European pages list up to 580 km under WLTP, with a note that homologation of the 2027 model is still ongoing.

The AWD Disconnect system physically decouples the front axle when all-wheel drive is not needed. The changeover takes 500 milliseconds. This allows the Folgore to reduce drivetrain losses during relaxed driving.

What the update means for buyers

In the US, choosing a gasoline Grecale is now simpler: every version means a V6, all-wheel drive and at least 385 hp. The trade-off is the disappearance of the less powerful and potentially more fuel-efficient four-cylinder alternative. Maserati does not provide comparable official fuel-consumption data for the 2026 and 2027 models in its published US table, so it is not yet possible to say how much consumption has increased.

The 2027 Grecale is an update to the existing crossover, not a generational change. Its main changes are the new base V6 version for North America, a revised front end, improved cabin controls and a lower US price for the Folgore. Buyers outside North America should check their local lineup: the four-cylinder 2027 Grecale remains available in some markets.
