Lancia Gamma Returns: Hybrid, Electric and HF Integrale Differences

Frequently asked questions

The Gamma Hybrid uses a petrol engine with electric assistance and does not require external charging. The Standard Range and Long Range are front-wheel-drive electric versions, while the HF Integrale is an all-wheel-drive electric model with the quickest acceleration. The Long Range has the highest claimed range, up to 741 km under WLTP.

No. Its 48-volt battery is charged through energy recovery during deceleration and braking. The electric system assists the petrol engine but is not intended for extended driving on electric power alone.

On October 9, 2026, Lancia published details of the new Gamma ahead of its presentation at the Paris Motor Show. Four versions share the same name: a petrol hybrid, two front-wheel-drive electric cars and the all-wheel-drive HF Integrale. The most powerful version accelerates faster than the others, but the highest claimed range belongs to the Long Range.

The Gamma has returned as a crossover with a sloping roofline. In the official release dated October 9, the manufacturer lists a length of about 4.67 m, a 560 l luggage compartment and production at the Melfi plant. The range is based on the STLA Medium platform, which supports different powertrains.

Four Versions: The Main Differences

The specifications below come from the Lancia technical press kit. Electric-car range is given according to the combined WLTP cycle, while battery capacities are usable figures. These are manufacturer figures, not the results of an independent comparison test.

Boost refers to an increase in power available when the conditions specified by the manufacturer are met. For the HF Integrale, Lancia specifically states that Boost depends on the battery charge level.

Hybrid: A Petrol Engine with Electric Assistance

The Gamma Hybrid combines a 1.2 l three-cylinder turbocharged engine with a six-speed eDCT transmission featuring two clutches and an integrated electric motor. Total system output is 145 hp. A small 48-volt battery recovers energy during deceleration and braking.

The Gamma Hybrid does not need to be charged from an outlet. The electric system assists during acceleration and allows the car to move briefly with the petrol engine switched off, for example while manoeuvring or travelling in slow-moving traffic. This version is not designed for long journeys on electric power alone.

The claimed fuel consumption is 5.3–5.7 l/100 km. For buyers, the key question is whether they want an electric car that requires regular charging or a vehicle that retains the familiar petrol refuelling routine. The word Hybrid alone does not mean that a charging port is fitted.

Standard Range and Long Range: Choose by Your Routes

Both electric versions drive the front wheels. The main difference is the battery: the Long Range adds 23.5 kWh of usable capacity and up to 198 km of stated range compared with the Standard Range. This is the difference between the published specifications, not a guaranteed increase on every route.

741 km Under WLTP — What Does That Mean on the Motorway?

Lancia also gives the Long Range another reference figure: 491 km at a constant 120 km/h, an outside temperature of 23 °C and the air conditioning switched on. A WLTP figure cannot be applied to a motorway journey without adjustment. The motorway figure was also provided by the manufacturer; conditions will differ in winter or at another speed.

If your daily route is short and home charging is available, the larger battery may mainly be useful for occasional long trips. For regular intercity journeys, the extra range provides more freedom when choosing charging stops. The Long Range premium is therefore best assessed against your own driving schedule.

What 27 Minutes of Charging Actually Means

For the Long Range and HF Integrale, Lancia claims a charge from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes. The Standard Range takes 31 minutes at a suitable fast-charging station. This is the charging time for a specified range, not the time from empty to full. When planning a stop, you need to account for the starting charge level and the station's operating conditions.

HF Integrale: All-Wheel Drive and the 375-hp Condition

The HF Integrale has two electric motors, one on each axle. All-wheel drive and adaptive suspension are standard. Its battery has the same usable capacity as the Long Range, but its claimed range is 65 km lower. There is no reason to choose the HF solely for driving range.

Why Do the Specifications Show Both 350 and 375 hp?

Both figures refer to the same car. Lancia lists 350 hp, increasing to 375 hp in Boost mode when the battery charge is above 90%. 375 hp should not be treated as power available at every remaining charge level. When comparing listings, check which figure the seller has quoted.

There are also similar trim names: HF Line is available for the hybrid, while HF Integrale identifies the electric all-wheel-drive version. The presence of the letters HF in a vehicle description does not by itself confirm all-wheel drive.

The Lancia emblem is mounted on the Gamma's rear pillar, on the glossy black panel beneath the spoiler. It is the brand badge, not an HF Integrale designation. A close-up of this detail in a listing cannot identify the powertrain; you need the description of the specific version.

When Will the Gamma Be Shown, and What Is Known About Sales?

Lancia's press conference in Paris is scheduled for October 12, 2026, at 11:10 local time. The motor show will open to the public on October 13 and run until October 18. The publication of the specifications on October 9 and the exhibition presentation are therefore separate stages of the launch.

Launch dates and the available range of versions depend on the country. For example, in Lancia's October 9 announcement for the Netherlands, the model is scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2027. Long Range and HF Integrale will be offered there at launch, with the Long Range starting at 51,950 euros. Versions with the smaller battery will arrive later, although no exact date has been announced.

This price cannot be used as a general European list price or as an import cost. A specific purchase requires the local specification, taxes and delivery terms to be checked. As of October 10, 2026, the materials used here do not provide a single sales-start calendar for all markets.

The official interior image shows a separate driver display, a central screen and a row of physical buttons beneath the air vents. When inspecting the Gamma, check how comfortable these controls are from your driving position: a power-and-range table cannot show that.

Which Version Should You Compare First?

  • Hybrid — if you want to keep petrol refuelling and do not plan to charge the car regularly.

  • Standard Range — if you want an electric Gamma and its range suits your usual routes.

  • Long Range — if the priority is covering more distance between charging stops.

  • HF Integrale — if you need all-wheel drive and quicker acceleration, while maximum range is not your top priority.
